Best Food of 2008

Red Peppers Mexican & Cuban Cuisine

From the outside it looks like a regular mexican restaurant but probably some of the most authentic cuban, argentinean, mexican food you'll ever eat.  It's close to historic downtown Acworth and I can't tell you how many times I have passed the place thinking, naaa... boy was I wrong.  I have been their twice and both times I've ordered the argentinean barbeque and have not been let down.  The food has been consistent  and the service has been impeccable.  I can't wait until it gets warmer so I can go back and hang out on the porch on a Saturday afternoon, order the barbeque and drink.  I would recommend not eating meat for a day or so if you plan on ordering the argentinean barbeque.  It's a massive meat plate with different steak, pork, chorizo and chicken.  I wish I had a photo... Here are directions and another review of the place.

Worst Food of 2008

Wendy's Chicken Sandwhich

Right after Kristen and I returned from our trip to Colorado (to see MMJ @ Red Rocks) we stopped off at Wendy's to get a bite to eat (we hadn't eaten since breakfast).  It was late so I opted for the chicken sandwich, no fries.  I ate it and went to bed because we were planning on going to Chattanooga the next morning for Brewfest, which didn't happen.  I woke up at 5:30am with a pain in my gut that I had never felt before.  I spent the next 8 hours either on the toilet or on my knees at the toilet.  Food poisoning... I had never had it before and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies.  It's been five months and I can't even look at the Wendy's sign, they are dead to me.

Best Reissues of 2008

To continue the "best of" tradition, here are two reissues that you can not miss from 2008.

First up is Matador's latest installment of their Pavement rehashes.  This one is their 1997 album "Brighten the Corners" (one of my favorites).  This release is special because it comes with all of the spectacular stuff you would expect from Matador plus the unreleased live album on vinyl.  There are some fantastic B-sides on the discs and it also comes with a huge 60 page booklet.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I have never been a real big fan of the Beach Boys  (other than Kokomo) but this album is nothing like the boys previous work.  It's from the drummer brother Dennis Wilson.  "Pacific Ocean Blue" is an absolutely amazing album and would have been my favorite had matador not rereleased BTC.  I highly recommend it, even if you aren't a Beach Boys fan.
