Play Me That Mountain Music.

With insomnia in full effect I have decided to post. My eyes are burning with the fires of hell, so please disregard all typos. So before PETA 2(People for the Ethical Treatment of Appalachians)gets all defensive, this transmission is coming from the foothills of the Appalachians so I am owed any disparaging remarks made towards hillbillies.

In reality, this is a love letter of sorts to the hill folk, or really their music. I hate country music, but I love bluegrass(yeah I'm not sure how it works either but I just go with it). Bands like the Avett Brothers, Felice Brothers, Punch Brothers (you getting the Brothers theme?) have made me want to take up some clogging lessons. It's all I've been listening to for the past three hours. Now not to long ago I was stuck behind one of your tractors in traffic, and that I wasn't cool about. The speed limit was 55 but we had to go 30. I will give you that it could have been the Amish, and then it would have been 10 MPH.

One thing that I have come to love about bluegrass is covers. Search Itunes for the pickin' on (remember to drop the g) series, and you will find covers of the Beatles, the Shins, and believe it or not Air. It just makes me want to head on down into a coal mine. I don't feel worthy of this unless I'm covered in coal soot. You know what Appalachia? I love ya, even if I can't wait to escape you for the second time. Carry on with your "Yinz" and your "Warsh". I love it in ya.

Since Radiohead has finally been nominated for a Grammy for best album, I'll sign off with some Punch Brothers covering Radiohead.
